Mother's Day Homemade Gift Ideas

One perk of having a child has to be the ease of gift-giving for family! Anything the babies touch is priceless and treasured.

Here's a few thoughtful homemade gifts for your moms, grandmas, aunts and loved ones that are sure to make the “save forever” box!

Grandma’s Handprint Garden

With a canvas, some washable finger paint and (many) towels at the ready, you’ll have a special keepsake in a few messy minutes. Place your child’s handprint towards the center of a canvas, draw a stem and vase or pot underneath and you have a beautiful flower. This would work great for multiple kids with their names around a petal/finger. Don’t forget to add the year somewhere!

Grandma/Auntie/Special Person’s Brag Book

We all likely have iCloud’s filled with adorable photos of our children but we can’t underestimate the timelessness of printed photos. Add Grandma’s favorite photos to a cute portable photo album (don’t forget to include some of her with your little in there!) and watch as she excitedly stows it in her purse for easy reference/show-and-tell.

Grace/Poem Written and Recited by Child

This was my go-to move. I’d write a heartfelt prayer of thanksgiving for my grandparents and pray it aloud before a holiday meal. It was always appreciated and they always asked for a copy. In fact, this was how I announced my acceptance into Notre Dame!

Photo Bookmark

Another family favorite! Either print a cute photo of your baby or have an older child draw a picture on a bookmark-sized piece of construction paper. I “laminate” it by wrapping in clear tape but you could also actually laminate for a more professional product. Find more inspo here.

Homemade gifts are always thoughtful and special, no matter how imperfect. What special mementos for everyone in the family to cherish for years to come!
